FBI Raids Local Detroit Clothing Store: Mason and Starr Speak With Owner
A local Detroit clothing store called “The D Spot” was raided yesterday evening by the FBI for selling what the NFL considered unlicensed NFL apparel. ‘The D Spot” is located on McNichols Road on the city’s west side.
The owner of the shop Bill Woods, or Uncle Woods by his peers knew that the merchandise he was selling was not authentic NFL gear and did not sell it as such. Woods told the media that, “I’m not trying to fool anybody as I sell them for $60. They can’t be authentic for the price. I sell them for $60 so people know coming in, they are not buying an authentic one that would cost $200 exactly.” Woods’ gear was confiscated, and he was issued citations totaling more than $3,000 for selling counterfeit goods.
FBI Raids Local Detroit Clothing Store: Mason and Starr Speak With Owner
Woods spoke with our own Mason and Starr and talked about the raid on the Moring show:
Mason: So what happened? Tell people what happened.
Woods: Um, like I said, I’m the owner of The D -Spot, Detroit’s premier, clothing store, and I’ve had the D -Spot for the last seven years. You know what I’m saying? So this is not a new thing and I didn’t just jump on the bandwagon, but I re-opened the D -Spot in October, and I’ve been selling, and have established a team of Detroit brands and Detroit designers, and we are all up under one roof. Everyone has a Detroit theme in one way or another and since the Lion’s have been doing so good this season and everything we have a couple of brands that, you know have the Lion’s logo on there or some type of NFL logo. I do have sports apparel and jerseys and everything inside the store I really wasn’t aware of the situation as far as licensing and stuff. The NFL is in Detroit and their looking for people selling Lions apparel no matter what the situation is. I guess I posted some lions apparel the other day on my social media page trying to promote the Lions and I got raided the other evening.

Woods did sound still a bit distraught about the situation and unhappy, how also seemed in good spirts and ready to move forward and still plans on supporting his hometown Lions.
Woods also took to social media to address the raid as well to tell all of his supporters that, “Everything is ok at The D Spot, Feds and Detroit and NFL police just raided my store and took everything that had Lions on it…I apologize for any inconvenience during this time…I cant explain my feelings and emotions right now. S/o (shoutout) to everyone riding up 6 mile and reached out to me. Thank you.”
