List of Big Lots Closing in Michigan
Big Lots has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it looks to be acquired by Nexus Capital Management. In a statement, Big Lots said it is excited about its future under Nexus Capital, which ” believes in our business and provides increased financial stability.” Nexus Capital Management hopes to include Big Lots in its lifestyle brands, including FTD, Dollar Shave Club, Toms, and many others.
Unfortunately, of their 1,400 stores nationwide, 315 will be closing, including 11 in Michigan and four in Metro Detroit.

- 32399 John R Rd., Madison Heights
- 2020 Grand River Ave., Okemos
- 1401 Spring St., Petoskey
- 6207 S Westnedge Ave., Portage
- 2850 Washtenaw Ave., Ypsilanti
Big Lots CEO, Bruce Thorn said, “Though the majority of our store locations are profitable, we intend to move forward with a more focused footprint.”
