When Will We See the Best Fall Colors in Michigan?
Labor Day weekend has wrapped up, and that means fall is officially on the way. With fall comes beautiful fall colors.
When should Michiganders expect vibrant colors this year? The annual fall foliage map from SmokeyMountains.com has been released, and per usual, the color time vary depending on where you are in the state.
The majority of Northern Michigan should begin seeing colors during the early weeks of September, peaking around mid-to-late September. Those in the lower peninsula, such as Detroiters, will likely see some color by the latter part of September, peaking in the second or third week of October.
Color projections for Southeast Michigan are as follows (via SmokyMountains.com):
Sept. 20 – Minimal change
Sept. 27 – Patchy
Oct. 4 – Partial
Oct. 11 – Near peak
Oct. 18 – Peak
Oct. 25 – Past peak
