Westland Native is the First Tigers Player to Win Rookie of Month in a Decade
The Tigers have scored the American League Rookie of the Month for July.
Detroit Tigers catcher Eric Haase received the honors. Haase, 28, is from Westland and currently lives in Livonia.
While he’s been with the Tigers for a few years, this is the first year he’s gotten a good amount of playing time. He hit his 18th home run last weekend, making it the sixth-most by a rookie in the history of the franchise.
The last Tiger to win Rookie of the Month was Brennan Boesch back in 2010.
