Michigan COVID-19 Restrictions Will Be Lifted July 1

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer today (May 20) announced a timeline on COVID-19 restrictions being lifted.

Starting June 1, capacity limits outdoors will be completely lifted. Also beginning June 1, indoor capacity limits will moved to 50%. Unvaccinated people will still be required to wear masks indoors through the month.

Starting July 1, all COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted. That includes the mask mandate, “unless unanticipated circumstances arise,” stated Whitmer, adding that it’s not expected.

Michigan has restricted occupancy in restaurants and additional venues since March 2020.

Right now, nearly 57% of adults in Michigan have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Michigan changed its mask mandate last week. With the new order, only unvaccinated people must wear masks indoors, and everyone may be outdoors without a mask on.
