Here’s How to Get a Free Ride to Your Vaccine Appointment
You’ve got your vaccine appointment, and now, all you need is a ride.
That’s the situations some Detroit residents are finding themselves in, but help is out there.
There are several options for those looking for a ride to their COVID-19 vaccine appointment. Many of them are free.
Here are a few options:
SMART Bus is giving free rides to people in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County. To snag one, while signing up for a vaccine appointment on Oakland or Macomb’s website, check that box saying you need a ride, and representative will give you a call. You may call SMARTS customer service line at 866-962-5515.
The city of Detroit if charging $2 for rides to TCF Center. To get a ride, residents should call 313-230-0505 between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and schedule a round-trip appointment. Rides must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. If you can’t pay the $2, Mayor Mike Duggan says they will wave the charge.
The Michigan Public Transit Association’s “Ride to Your Dose of Hope” program is also offering free rides. Residents should contact their local transit agency or local health department to find out what transportation is available to them.
