Misha McGlown, one of the organizers of Sacred Spaces was asked what Scared Spaces means to her and why is it important to shine a light on black art in the city of Detroit. She replied, “It’s really is for me, personally, just a celebration of all the work that we’re doing to promote and sustain the arts in Detroit, and just the uniqueness of the Detroit ecosystem.”
One of highlights for this weekend is Terrell Anglin’s first solo exhibition using wood burning and mixed media techniques to explore the past and present of African American life. On Thursday, February 8, he opens his show, ON FIRE at Irwin House.
