Lions Win Another Nail Bitter Against The Bears; Improve to 8-2
Lions Fans you can breathe again. For the second week in a row the Lions pull off another close victory. on Sunday the Lions defeated the Chicago Bears 31-26 in the final minute to improve to an 8-2 record on the season. This was definitely a satisfying win for the Lions seeing as how according to the stats, the Bears were supposed to emerge victorious on the game. Lions fans weren’t optimistic after the Bears ran 8:45 off the clock during a 14-play fourth-quarter drive on Sunday. To make matters worse, when the Lions got the ball back there was only 4:15 remaining in the game, and they were down 12 points. In addition, Jared Goff had thrown three interceptions. The odds were stacked against them and yet there were still able to get the job done. Despite the turnovers, Goff led two spectacular drives, one going 75 yards in six plays and another going 73 yards in eleven plays. On three of the final four plays, Detroit gained 16, 13, and 32 yards, right when it needed to move quickly. The Lions also got it done on the defensive end in the final minutes of the game as well. Lions first round pick from last season, Aidan Hutchinson made a game changing play to seal the deal for the Lions. As a final exclamation point, Hutchinson stripped Justin Fields on a sack to end the game.
Once the defense forced a three-and-out, the offense not only ran down the field for the go-ahead score, but also took the clock down to 29 seconds, so the Bears had little time to respond. It wasn’t the prettiest win for the Lions, but a win is a win. The Lions displayed what has been their motto all season-Grit! These are the kinds of games that can help a team reach the playoffs or improve its seeding. There will always be off games for teams, but when you can win those games, you are at an advantage.
Unfortunately for the Lions, they won’t get to enjoy the fruits of their labor too long as its a short week for them. The team will play their annual Thanksgiving Day game this Thursday at 12:30pm against the Green Bay Packers who, the Lions stomped earlier in this season, so they will be seeking revenge. Lets hope the team can get their third division win this Thursday.
