Lions Pre-Season Football is Back!
The new look Detroit Lions will take the field this Friday at 7pm to take on the New York Giants in the teams first preseason game of the season. Its been roughly a little over 180 days since the Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, ending Aaron rogers tenor in Green Bay. The Lions have added a lot of talent on both the offence and defense this off-season and have been the talk of the league the past few month, now its time to show and prove.
This week during training camp, the Lions and Giants have been participating in joint practices. After day one, the Lions have been impressive to say the least. The Lions have been dominating in most of the drills. As the offenses and defenses worked in a red zone drill at the end of practice, only one field was used, so the offenses and defenses could watch one another. Fans and players alike were enthused by Detroit’s intensity, and winning reps were cheered on from the Lions sidelines. In an NSFW exchange, Lions safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson had some choice comments about the playing abilities of former Lions cornerback Amani Oruwariye.
After practice, Lions quarterback Jared Goff spoke with the media saying, “It’s so fun to go against another team for the last two weeks, three weeks – however long we’ve been here. It’s offense vs. defense. Who’s going to win the day? Now it’s Lions vs. Giants, and we get to feel like we’re competing together and get a new jersey color out there. It’s fun.” Head coach Dan Campbell also spoke to the media saying, “I can’t wait, man, I’m competitive. And I don’t even get to practice, but I just, that’s just me. I love this. If I’m in that locker room, this is the greatest, man. This is the best. You get to go against a different opponent and they bring something different to the table and you get to show what you’re capable of to us and to their organization, honestly. That’s what they’ve got to remember.” There are two more joint practices scheduled between the Lions and Jaguars next week.
