Happy Cinco De Mayo Detroit!
Its Cinco De Mayo! Which mean tacos and tequila will be on most peoples menu today, but where should you go to get some? Look no further than the Cinco De Mayo festivities taking place in Southwest Detroit. The Southwest Detroit Cinco De Mayo fiesta kicks off on Friday at 21st and Bagley streets. The party will run until Saturday at 8 p.m., but there will be a Cinco De Mayo parade on Sunday in honor of the 58th anniversary of the holiday. The parade starts at 12 p.m. at Patton Park on Woodmere and Vernor, and includes floats, bands, dancers, cars, and trucks waving the Mexican flag.
In addition to the activities taking place in Southwest Detroit, The Detroit River will be the scene of a fun family event. Surgeon Day is this weekend as well. Sturgeon Day will feature games, arts and crafts, and hands-on learning activities, as well as a chance to get up close to these fascinating creatures. The event takes place at Milliken State Park on Detroit’s Riverfront on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
