There’s no denying that Detroit rocks when it comes to our music lineage. Now, it appears the world agrees.
Rolling Stone magazine has named Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” the No. 1 song of all time on their new edition of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list, out Wednesday (Sept. 15).
The magazine created the list based on votes from more than 250 artists, journalists and industry figures.
Detroit also has the No. 1 album of all time, as Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” is at the top of the magazine’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, which was updated in 2020.
