Amazon To Stop Testing Employees For Marijuana
Detroit marijuana users rejoice! If you are currently working for an Amazon plant in the metro Detroit area, they have just announced that they are not going to test future applicants for weed during the hiring process and they will no longer enforce drug tests on current employees either.
That doesn’t mean you can show up to work high! Amazon’s CEO Dave Clark says that the reason for the change comes from Amazon’s company goal to be “Earth’s Best Employer.” In a brief statement made by Clark, he stated that, “In the past, like many employers, we’ve disqualified people from working at Amazon if they tested positive for marijuana use, however, given where state laws are moving across the U.S, we’ve changed course.” Clark also shared that Amazon’s policy team will be reintroducing their Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act of 2021. This policy will actively help support the legalization of weed at the federal level, as well as help expunge the criminal records of people who were previously arrested for marijuana. If you are a marijuana user and are in need of a job, definitely check out Amazon and apply online today.
