Mega Millions Jackpot at 1.35 Billion
Another chance to win $1.35 billion will be available to Mega Millions players Friday night. In the lottery game, many people have won smaller prizes, but no one has matched all six numbers and won the grand prize since Oct 14. Those 25 drawings without a winner allowed the top prize to grow larger for three months. The 1.35 billion jackpot has now become the fourth largest in lottery history. In the event there is no winner Friday night, the jackpot will inch closer to the record $2.04 billion Powerball prize won last November in California.
A spokesperson for the lottery released a statement saying, “Now at $1.35 billion, the Mega Millions jackpot is moving up and making history as the second highest Mega Millions jackpot ever. Our member lotteries raise funds for many good causes, ranging from education to conservation programs. We’re proud to support these efforts.” Five previous jackpots have been won on Friday the 13th, and four of them were in Michigan, the release said. Prizes have also been won in New York, Ohio, and Rhode Island on Friday the 13th. Mega Millions announced that the last jackpot was won at $502 million on October 14, when two winning tickets were drawn from California and Florida. Over 33 million winning tickets have been sold since then, including 68 players who have won $1 million or more.
The cash option is almost always chosen by the winners, which in Friday’s drawing would be approximately $707.9 million. Don’t wait, get you a Mega Millions ticket you could be a lucky winner.
