Jared Goff Opens Up About Moving to Michigan with Fiancée
Jared Goff is the man of the hour. Actually, he’s the man of the weekend. The 2024 NFL Draft is in Detroit this weekend, and the event opened up with a range of Detroit personalities taking the stage, including Eminem, Calvin Johnson, Barry Sanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aiden Hutchinson and, yes, Goff. The draft also kicked off with St. Brown leading a huge crowd chant of, “Jared Goff! Jared Goff!” Now, Goff is opening up about moving with his fiancée to Michigan.
Jared Goff on Moving to Michigan with Fiancée
I sat down with Goff for an interview during his Jared Jewelers charity event this week. During the interview, I asked about his fiancée, Christen Harper, who he’s set to marry during the offseason. If you follow Goff and Harper on social media, you’ll notice that the two love Michigan. Goff said Harper has been “instrumental” in the two embracing the big move to Michigan and Detroit.
“When I was traded, she came out with me and moved out here and changed a lot of her life,” Goff said. “She was only my girlfriend at the time. Now, she’s my fiancée. She made that jump. It’s something I’ll never forget. I’m very thankful to her for that. We’ve really embraced it here. The people are what makes Michigan special, and we’re happy to be a part of it.”
Now that Goff is a beloved Detroit Lions quarterback, he’s gotten familiar with the Detroit Lions fans. He’s going on three years in the city, after all. I asked, “How are Detroit Lions fans different from Los Angels Rams fans?” He assured me that they’re “a ton different.”
“How much time you got?” he said, half-joking. “It’s been fun to play in front of them. They care so much. They’re so passionate. They love their football. They love all their sports but certainly football is big for fans here, and it’s been really fun to play in front of these fans.”
Jared Jewelers and Jared Goff Give Back
During this week’s Jared Jewelers event, Jared Jewelers and Goff presented a $50,000 check to Give Merit, a Detroit-based non-profit that helps improve high school graduation rates in the Motor City via the FATE program. On top of giving the $50,000 donation to Give Merit, Goff and Jared Jewelers gave three Lions supporters – Detroit Lions security director Elton Moore, U.S. Military veteran and Wisconsin resident Michael Robinson and lifelong Lions fan Leon DeFever – Breitling timepieces, which are available at select Jared store locations. Elsewhere in my interview, Goff discussed the strength of the NFC North. Listen to my full interview with Goff below, and reach out to me here.
