Detroit Lions Extend Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Contract
Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is super popular in the Motor City. It’s for good reason, too. He’s proven to be one of the best fourth-round draft picks in the franchise’s history. That said, fans were getting a bit nervous not to hear any news about St. Brown’s contact being extended as of late. Now, however, I bring good news that the Lions have extended Brown’s contract, and he’s here to stay. At least for four more years.
Detroit Lions Extend Amon-Ra St. Brown’s Contract
The fact the Lions have made it a priority to keep St. Brown in the fold isn’t a surprise. In the last press conference of the year, GM Brad Holmes talks about re-signing the Lions’ own players. St. Brown would be the top choice, since he’s an All-Pro and going into the last year of his contract. It was only a matter of time before we heard about his contact being extended, but it still comes with a sigh of relief.
Let’s go inside St. Brown’s new deal. According to the NFL (via Rapsheet), the wide receiver and the Lions have agreed to terms on a four-year extension worth more than $120M, including $77M guaranteed. The NFL also shared a video message from St. Brown, in which he says, “At Ford Field. It’s empty. Usually, it’s rocking. I can’t wait. I’m here four more years.” The Detroit Lions also took to social media to share some celebratory footage. He’s excited. We’re excited. Everyone is excited. Except, our competition is not thrilled, of course. Teams in the market for a wide receiver are probably not very happy right now.
In other Lions news, Jared Jewelers and Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff held a local event on Tuesday (April 23) at The Detroit Club, in which the two presented a $50,000 check to Give Merit. If you’re wondering, Give Merit is a Detroit-based non-profit that helps improve high school graduation rates in the Motor City via the FATE program. It’s a great program, and it was heartwarming to attend this event. After the event, I had an exclusive interview with Goff. We talked about the state of the NFC North, what it takes to be a strong quarterback, what he loves about Michigan, how Lions fans are different from Rams fans and more.
