Detroit Lions Extend Contracts with Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes – Details
Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes are here to stay. Duh. Can you imagine if the Detroit Lions didn’t extend the contracts of the head coach and general manager after this amazing past season? Now, I say it’s onto Jared Goff to lock him in for more time in Detroit. He’s earned it, and we need him. But, back to Campbell and Holmes. It’s great to see the Detroit Lions extend contracts with these two guys who have brought so much to the Motor City.
Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes Contract Extensions
Holmes and Campbell both agreed to contract extensions. Those extensions will run through the 2027 season, the team announced on Thursday (March 14). In addition, special assistant Chris Spielman got an extension for his advisory role with the Lions.
“We are thrilled to have Brad and Dan under contract for the next four seasons,” Lions owner Sheila Hamp said in a statement. “They have been the driving force behind the rebuild of our football team and the success that we have enjoyed. The continuity they provide for our football program will continue to be the key to our future success on the field.”
Holmes has proved he has a knack for finding talent at a steal. He’s known for bringing on players that haven’t been given a chance elsewhere, and then seeing those low-cost players overperform. When I look at his decisions over the past few years, one that really stands out is when the Lions let go of star running backs D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams after 2022 and instead brought on Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in 2023. While some people, including myself, were a bit puzzled, it was a fantastic move. The Lions had their best season in three decades. I’m just happy to see so much consistency with the Lions’ coaching staff going into the new season. Both of these guys are popular with the fans, too. I’m a firm believer that if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. Reach out with your thoughts here.
