Michigan Mountain Is Among The Best For Night Skiing In the U.S.
There is only one thing better than skiing on a day that is filled with fresh powder. That would be hitting those slopes under the lights at night. To get ready for winter, Freeskier recently listed the mountains that are best in the country for night skiing, and a Michigan mountain topped the list.
“Whether out of necessity—having jobs or other commitments that prevent them from skiing during the day or the social aspect or simply the solitude of nighttime turns, skiers across the nation have become hooked on skiing under the stars,” Freeskier exclaims.
It is quite common for true enthusiasts to long for the slope conditions you will find out west. Colorado, Utah, Jackson Hole, and Montana, for example. However, for those who seek the thrill of skiing (or snowboarding) at night, you can stay right here in Michigan for the thrill. Even for those who frequent the mountain regularly, skiing at night offers an entirely different experience.
Boyne Mountain
Located at 1 Boyne Mountain Road in Boyne Falls, it has expanded its night skiing this season. “Calling all our night owls, night skiing for winter 23/24 is on a whole other level with Disciples Ridge now in the mix,” they said in a recent Instagram post. Night skiing is available at Boyne Mountain from 5-9 pm. Their 2024 season has this offering until March 15.
The rates for night skiing here are set to increase as the demand goes up. Currently, the night pass lift ticket starts at just $29. “Commit early to night ski for less,” Boyne Mountain suggests. Night skiing is typically offered only Wednesday through Saturday. However, during the week of February 18 ( winter break), night skiing will be open all week long.
This Michigan spot was the only mountain in the region to be named by Freeskier. Boyne is certainly in some nice company alongside Bolton Valley, Vermont, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Big White in Canada.

Winter Blues
The first day of winter marks the beginning of a season filled with holiday celebrations, quality time with friends and family, and cozy comforts. However, the extended cold days and nights can sometimes lead to cabin fever.
As the days get shorter, some folks start feeling a bit down. You might get the winter blues around the holidays or feel a bit of a slump after all the fun and festivities. The National Institutes of Health says that finding fun and engaging activities can help beat those winter blues.
