Each year, as part of their World’s Best Awards survey, the travel site invites readers to participate by sharing their travel experiences from all corners of the world. They voice their opinions on the finest hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 685,000 votes were cast, covering more than 8,500 distinct properties, including hotels, cities, and cruise lines, among others. They categorized hotels as resort hotels, city hotels, or safari lodges based on location and amenities. These properties were evaluated on various criteria, such as rooms/facilities, location, service, food, and value.

A Michigan destination has earned a spot on the best list. Hotel Walloon, located in Walloon Michigan, secured the number 5 position with a reader score of 98.37 out of 100. Dating back to 1900, this charming hotel has only 32 rooms, each featuring a balcony or front porch, which the travel site emphasized as a highlight.
