2022 America’s Thanksgiving Parade Grand Marshals Revealed
Grand Marshals of the 96th America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White will be none other than NBA veteran Jalen Rose and Detroit Reverend Dr. Wendell Anthony. Tony Michaels, president & CEO, The Parade Company released a statement saying, “We look forward to Grand Marshals Jalen Rose and Reverend Wendell Anthony leading America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Gardner White down Woodward Avenue on Thanksgiving morning. Both are incredible community leaders who exemplify all things great in our city. It is a thrill to honor them in this year’s parade.” In 2018, and 2019, the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards named America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Gardner White as America’s Best Holiday Parade. The America’s Thanksgiving Parade® presented by Gardner White will air live on WDIV-Local 4 at 10 a.m. to noon. A syndicated national broadcast will take place from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. they’re expecting around 185 television markets across the country to be tuned into the parade.
Jalen Rose, who is a native Detroit and a member of the legendary “Fab 5” attended Southwestern High School and the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, Rose lead the Wolverines to back-to-back NCAA Championship game appearances. Before becoming an ESPN/ABC analyst, Rose played 13 season in the NBA. Rose is constantly giving back to the community and even opened his own school in Detroit called the Jalen Rose Leadership Academy.
The Rev. Wendell Anthony is a member of the NAACP National Board of Directors, President of the Detroit Branch NAACP, which the largest unit in the country, and a Pastor of Fellowship Chapel in Detroit for over 40 years. After attending public schools in Detroit, he attended Wayne State University and graduated with a degree in Political Science. He also attended Marygrove College and finished with a master’s degree in Pastoral Studies. Anthony has been the Pastor of Fellowship Chapel since 1986 and is a founder of the Freedom Institute for Economic Justice, Social Justice and People Empowerment and the Fannie Lou Hamer Political Action Committee.
