I-75 Closed For The Weekend
This weekend, I-75 between 8 Mile Road and Square Lake Road will be closed for construction. The shut down of the freeway is happening due to bridge work. The closure will begin Friday, July 9, at 11 p.m. and end Monday, July 12, at around 5 a.m. The construction will close about 19 miles of I-75 this weekend.
According to officials, all traffic will be detoured to Woodward Avenue. Northbound I-75 traffic will be detoured west onto Eight Mile Road, then to northbound Woodward Avenue. Then, eastbound Square Lake Road and back to northbound I-75. As far as southbound traffic, I-75 will be detoured to westbound Square Lake Road, then to southbound Woodward Avenue, then eastbound Eight Mile Road and back to southbound I-75.
Prior to both freeway closures, construction crews will begin closing some ramps as early 9 p.m. as well as closing freeway lane at around 10 p.m. All ramps to northbound I-75 will be closed from Davison Freeway to 12 Mile Road.
