Multi-Year Construction Project on I-275 Starts Tuesday
If you’re a regular on I-275 in Wayne and Monroe counties, get ready for construction, as a major four-year project to resurface and rebuild the area will start Tuesday (July 6).
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation said the project will go through Ash Township, Canton Township, Huron Township, Livonia, Plymouth, Romulus and Van Buren Township.
The project will focus on 24 miles of the highway between Will Carlton Road and 6 Mile Road.
Starting Tuesday, I-275 will go down to one open lane in each direction between I-94 and South Huron Road through late fall. Pennsylvania Road will be closed over I-275 through late August.
Starting July 12, the 5 Mile Road bridge will be closed over I-275. Also, the Eureka Road bridge over I-275 will go down to one lane.
From July 7 to 11, the northbound I-275 ramp to Eureka Road and westbound Eureka Road ramp to northbound I-275 will be closed.
This year, work on the project is expected to run through late full and start up again next year, running through 2024.
