Today is Detroit Police Chief James Craig’s Last Day
Detroit Police Chief James Craig is wrapping up his 44-year career today (June 1).
Craig began his law enforcement journey at age 19 took, and since then has worked everywhere from Los Angeles to Maine to Portland to Cincinnati.
Of course, he’s a staple in Detroit, so it’s fitting that he’s closing out his career in the Motor City. He’s a 24-year veteran of the DPD and a Detroit native.
James White, the head of the Department of Civil Rights, will serve as the interim leader of the department.
Craig is retiring amid rumors that he might run for governor as a Republican.
