My Spa Day Transformation at Bees Beauty Bar and Spa
Spa Day at Bees Beauty Bar and Spa
Every year, we all have this theory that we will get our lives together, calling it our ” New Year’s Resolution,” whether eating healthier, losing weight, or even going to therapy.
This year, my New Year’s resolution is to have more self-care days for myself and my skin. My skin is going to be A -1 this summer. I have made huge improvements in my monthly regiments for my ultimate spa day at the Black-owned Luxury Beauty Bar called Bees Beauty Bar and Spa. They offer luxury spa treats at an affordable price!
I had the chance to experience Bee’s Signature Facial! This was my first facial, and I honestly did not know what to expect, but it was everything I needed it to be!
Bee’s Signature Facial is about a one-hour experience. To relax, I received a comfortable robe and a classy glass of Champagne. I struggle with my monthly self-care regimen, so this was a great start! According to Bee’s website, this treatment is customized and recommended to start your skin-balancing journey. The ladies at Bess Beauty Bar and Spa were extremely helpful in educating me on what I was getting done to my face.
My spa day wasn’t complete until I received my first Body Treatment. This was my first body treatment experience, so I was utterly blown away by how my skin felt afterward. On Bees’ website, she describes this as a “showerless scrub” followed by a full-body massage. All products used are 100% natural, which I love.
Bees Beauty Bar and Spa is located at 18308 W 10 Mile Rd, Southfield, MI, and is a one-stop shop! I got the best Brazilian I have ever had, with Alex, and you already know that can be an uncomfortable experience, but it was not that at all, and my results turned out phenomenal. I was also able to get my nails done by Mallory right after my facial and body treatment, and in my opinion, it is way more comfortable than your typical nail shop experience. Plus, first-time bookers get $10 off.
As a busy single mom, I have learned that setting time aside for self-care is very important. When you do, make sure you stop by Bees Beauty Bar and Spa and let them know Autty from 105.9 KISS FM sent you. Now put a kiss on that!
Revisiting Iconic Black Hairstyles from the 2000s
Black hair is not just hair. It’s a kind of magic. Think about it: it defies gravity and can be molded into all sorts of shapes. It can even be put into styles that stand the test of time. Icons like The Supremes, Cicely Tyson, Angela Davis, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Aaliyah, Brandy, Halle Berry, and Beyoncé, spanning the 1960s to the early 2000s, showcased looks that remain timeless. Even today, these classic styles can be replicated. Additionally, they can be given a modern twist with on-trend embellishments, maintaining a timeless appeal.
Black hair over the years…
The journey of Black hair over the years is intriguing, with old styles making occasional comebacks. For instance, the Y2K hair era has seen periodic revivals. Bringing back trends like bandanas, micro braids, beaded braids, and designer logos. Black women not only embraced these styles but also played a significant role in popularizing them, establishing themselves as trendsetters.
In honor of Black History Month, let’s pay tribute to the iconic Black hairstyles of the early 2000s. Black History Month is not just a reflection on the past. It’s also an opportunity to honor trailblazers, visionaries, and icons shaping our present. It’s a celebration of Black hair and beauty traditions, acknowledging the lasting impact of how Black culture has influenced beauty around the world.
The ongoing natural hair movement is changing the beauty world and getting people to talk about including everyone. In 2019, the CROWN (Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair) Act, led by the CROWN Coalition, emerged as a pivotal initiative against hair discrimination, gaining adoption in 23 states and garnering international support.
Check out some of the iconic Black hairstyles from the 2000s. It’s a trip down memory lane celebrating the beauty and cultural influence of Black hair that’s made its mark on the world.
Autumn, who is affectionately known as “Autty,” was born in Kalamazoo but grew up in Ann Arbor. As an only child in Ann Arbor, she of course grew up with Michigan Fans (go blue!) She now has two broken best friends…. okay, it’s her two kids. While you may hear her on the weekends on 105.9 KISS-FM, you can also find her at a lot of events in the city as part of the promotions and digital team for 105.9 KISS-FM, as well as our sister stations, 105.1 The Bounce and Detroit Praise Network.
Autumn absolutely LOVES photography, you may also run into her at the hottest concerts in the D, normally in the pit getting photos of all your favorite throwback artists. When she finally gets some time away from work, she likes spending time with friends and family and there’s a good chance you’ll find her shopping at Target a few times a week. If it’s not at Target, then she’ll dive into her hobby of online shopping and writing about things happening around the D, and she even has an interest in orchestra and symphonies from her time playing the flute.
