Usher Teases Super Bowl Guests
As if Usher performing on his own wasn’t enough, the R&B legend will be bringing some “important guests” on stage with him for his Super Bowl Halftime performance. In an interview per VIBE, the “Superstar” crooner said that the show will implement his love for rollerskating, have a “major costume change,” and honor R&B music.
In his latest interview with Vogue, in which he graces the cover alongside model Carolyn Murphy, Usher gave some insight on what is to come of his Super Bowl performance.
“This night was specifically curated in my mind to have R&B take the main stage,” Usher told the publication.
He added that the artists selected to be a part of his set are “people who represent, for him, the genre’s architects…Not just R&B music, but R&B performance, R&B connection, R&B spirit.”
Usher Hints At What’s To Come At Super Bowl Halftime Performance
Back in November, Usher hinted at bringing some guests on stage in an interview with Extra.
“I do want to play the songs that people obviously recognize and the ones that I celebrate, I’ve been able to laugh, I have been able to cry, I have been vulnerable, I’ve been telling and honest,” he told the outlet. “I’ve also collaborated with a lot of people in the process, so… there’s a celebration there.”
Over his two-decade-spanning career, Usher has worked with Beyoncê, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Lil Jon, just to name a few. Any of those special guests or the host of other big-name artists he collaborated with over the years would be a good addition to his performance.
As for Rihanna, who took the stage last year, she is confident in the R&B legend’s ability to make a momentous performance. “Hell no, I can’t give Usher no advice,” RiRi told E! News last month. “Usher is a natural, he’s a legend, he’s been doing this since he’s a teenager. He is made for that show.”
Usher replied to her comments via X (formerly known as Twitter). “Real recognize real,” he wrote. “Thank U Queen @rihanna.”
