Beyoncé Gears Up For Act II Of Renaissance
While Beyoncé has not spoken out about her Uncle Rowland’s death, she has not shied away from honoring her family in her music. Beyoncé dedicated her last album Renaissance (Act I) to the LGBTQI+ community and her late Uncle Johnny, who died from HIV complications. During her acceptance speech for the Vanguard Award at the 2019 GLAAD Awards, Beyoncé touched on who he was.
“He was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting. And witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived. I’m hopeful that his struggle helped to open pathways for other young people to live more freely. LGBTQIA rights are human rights.”
Beyoncé is now gearing up for Act II of Renaissance which is set to drop on March 29. She has already released two new songs, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” which are out now.
