Jon Stewart: Details on His Return to ‘The Daily Show’
Jon Stewart, the longtime host of The Daily Show, is returning to the Comedy Central series.
Per multiple outlets — including Variety and The Hollywood Reporter — Stewart will return to The Daily Show on Feb. 12 and will host the show only on Monday nights. The rest of the week will be hosted by the show’s many correspondents. They include Jordan Klepper, Desi Lydic, Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta and Dulcé Sloan. Additionally, Stewart will also serve in an executive producer role.
In a statement on his return, President/CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios Chris McCarthy said, “Jon Stewart is the voice of our generation, and we are honored to have him return to Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ to help us all make sense of the insanity and division roiling the country as we enter the election season. In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit.”

Stewart, meanwhile, playfully announced his return to The Daily Show via X. He wrote, “Friends. After much reflection, I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility. Excited for the future! 5’7” ish 165 14.8 second 40 #Blessed #NILBABY #TDSnation #LFGM.”

Stewart previously was the host of Apple TV+’s The Problem, which ran from 2021-2023. The show came to an end due to creative differences between Stewart and Apple. At the latest Emmy Awards, the show was nominated for Outstanding Talk Series. Coincidentally, it lost to The Daily Show. The show’s win made headlines thanks to former correspondent Roy Wood Jr., who could be seen on stage during Trevor Noah’s acceptance speech mouthing the words, “Please hire a host.”
Since Noah’s shocking exit in 2022, The Daily Show has yet to name a permanent full-time host. Following the Stewart news, many fans of Wood Jr. took to X to lament the correspondent being overlooked as a permanent host.
