Drake Accused Of Copying A$AP Rocky’s Hairstyle
Drake is known for switching up his hairstyles. And now, some fans believe he’s biting off of A$AP Rocky’s swag. Drizzy posted a photo in celebration for his album For All The Dogs dropping on Friday (Oct. 6). The Instagram post included a photo of his curls jelled down while he sported colorful barrettes and a grill.
The hairstyle was initially debuted in his “8am in Charlotte” music video. The song was the second single to For All The Dogs. However, fans took note that his hairstyle resembled a previous barrette style look from the “Fashion Killa” artist.
“Why is Drake copying everything asap Rocky doing with his hair?” one fan asked on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Drake Allegedly Takes Shots At Rihanna On For All The Dogs
Drake seemingly playing the copycat with A$AP Rocky’s previous hairstyle could have a deeper meaning. The Toronto rapper used to date Rihanna, who is now dating A$AP. Drake and RiRi were rumored to have dated seemingly on and off from 2009 to 2018. They split for good in 2018. Fans believe that the Certified Lover Boy has not gotten over her.
On his latest album, that theory rings true because not only did he take shots at Rihanna but at her relationship with A$AP.
“Gyal can’t run me/Better him than me/Better it’s not me/I’m anti, I’m anti,” Drake begins on “Fear Of Heights.” He seemingly references Rihanna’s 2016 studio album Anti. The use of “Gyal” also calls out Rihanna’s Barbados accent as well as her Instagram handle @badgalriri.
“Yeah, and the sex was average with you/Yeah, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you/Okay, I’m auntie like your daddy’s sister/Auntie like a family picture/And I had way badder bitches than you, TBH/Yeah, that man, he still with you, he can’t leave you/Y’all go on vacation, I bet it’s Antigua,” he ends the first verse. The “sex was average with you” line could also be a reference to RiRi’s song “Sex With Me” where she sings “sex with me so amazing.”
The Antigua line references RiRi and A$AP’s vacations in Lesser Antilles, where both Antigua and Barbados are found. Rihanna is from Barbados and has traveled back to her home country with A$AP Rocky during her pregnancies with both of her sons.
