Jay-Z To Reportedly Perform At 2023 Grammys
Jay-Z is reportedly performing at the 2023 Grammys. According to HITS Daily Double, Hov could be performing the Grammy-nominated DJ Khaled track “God Did.” The song also features Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend, and Fridayy. “God Did” is nominated for three awards, including Song of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.
Along with the possibility of a Jay-Z and DJ Khaled performance, Harry Styles and Bad Bunny are also rumored to perform. However, other A-list nominees such as Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift say it is “unlikely” that they will perform. The Grammys have not made any announcements yet. Insiders also claim Adele is “pretty definitively” skipping the ceremony altogether, despite being nominated for Album of the Year,Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
This comes after the Grammys have been consistently under fire from artists. Many rappers have bowed out and declined to submit their projects for Grammy consideration. This year, Drake, The Weekend, and Silk Sonic (comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) all decided to withhold their projects from the Recording Academy. Jay-Z hasn’t been shy about how he disapproves of the Grammys despite being one of the most decorated artists. In 2018, he was up for eight Grammy nominations for his album 4:44. However, he didn’t win any of them. He expressed his frustration with the Recording Academy on “Apes—” featuring Beyoncé. “Tell the Grammys f— that 0 for eight s—,” he rapped.
Jay-Z is currently tied with Kanye West at 24 Grammy wins. So if Hov pulls a win from “God Did,” he will be the most decorated hip-hop artist in Grammy’s history.
