Jennifer Hudson Becomes An EGOT After Tony Win
Jennifer Hudson is officially an EGOT after collecting her Tony win last night (June 12) at the 75th Annual Tony Awards.
Hudson, who co-produced the winning best musical A Strange Loop, won the final trophy she needed to complete the EGOT quartet; she has already won an Emmy, a Grammy and an Oscar.
She won a Daytime Emmy last year, for the animated short Baba Yaga, which she co-produced and lent her voice to. The American Idol alum is a two-time Grammy winner and her first Grammy was awarded for her 2009 self-titled album.
Her Oscar win comes from the 2007 film Dreamgirls where she took home the award for “Best Supporting Actress.”
Per PEOPLE, Hudson previously joked about getting two more dogs as “good luck charms.”
“I got a dog and named it Oscar, and then I won my Oscar. And then I got a dog and named it Grammy, and then I won my Grammy,” she said at the time. “So I think I should get some dogs and name them Emmy and Tony — and it’ll give me good luck, and I’ll win. [They’re] like my good luck charms.”
The 2022 Tony Awards aired live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday (June 12).
