Kanye & Drake Announce ‘Free Larry Hoover’ Concert
The beef has been squashed between Kanye and Drake and as the first venture on their new friendship, the two have decided to create a benefit concert in hopes to free Larry Hoover.
“I believe this event will not only bring awareness to our cause but prove to people everywhere how much more we can accomplish when we lay our pride aside and come together,” West said in a statement per Hypebeast.
Larry Hoover is the founder of the Gangster Disciples gang, who is currently in prison in Colorado serving six life sentences for ordering the 1973 murder of a 19-year-old drug dealer and later running a drug ring from prison that raked in an estimated $100 million a year per Page Six.
West told President Trump in 2018 that freeing Hoover was very important to him per NY Post, “In an alternate universe, I am him,” the Grammy winner said. “And I have to go and get him free because he was doing positive inside of Chicago.”
Larry Hoover’s son, Larry Hoover Jr. said a few words as well in regards to the rappers coming together.
“With Ye, Drake, and J Prince united to advocate for my father’s release, we can take our plea for redemption worldwide and show that we are truly stronger together. On behalf of any and everyone with a love one wrongly or unjustly incarcerated…free my father!”
Tickets go on sale on November 22 at 10 a.m. PST. The Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert takes place on Dec. 9.
