Willow Smith Can No Longer Whip Her Hair Back And Forth
Willow Smith shocked fans in the concert film lately i feel EVERYTHING not only when she brought in Y2K favorites Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker, but when she buzzed her hair off on stage.
The 20-year-old musician sat down on a stool at the end of her performance of 2010 single “Whip My Hair” while someone came up with clippers and started to shear off her thick afro. As she was getting her hair cut, Willow continued playing her guitar. Once her impromptu stylist was finished, they stepped back to reveal Willow’s new close-cropped look as she peers outward at the close of the concert film.
Willow’s concert film was released on Friday (July 16) simultaneously with her fourth studio album, lately i feel EVERYTHING.
The performances were done primarily on sound stages with new sets built for each one, with the final one wrapped up in what looked like a basement. Travis Barker was on the drums for Willow’s standout hit from the album transparentsoul. The Blink-182 drummer made another performance appearance when Avril joined for the song “GROW.” Willow seemed excited, calling their collaboration “absolutely spectacular. Like, it’s just going to be pop-punk astronomical royalty.”
Watch the concert film for lately i feel EVERYTHING here.
Willow first debuted her shaved head on Instagram on July 5.
Her new hairdo seems to have directly inspired her mother Jada Pinkett-Smith to try the shaved look for herself. The mother–daughter duo cozied up together in a sweet photo showing off the ladies’ short crops.
“Willow made me do it because it was time to let go BUT … my 50’s are bout to be Divinely lit with this shed❣️,” Jada wrote on Instagram of the image she screenshotted of Willow’s original post.
Willow originally wrote, “A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return.”
