Queen Latifah Rumors A “Girls Trip” Sequel
Has There Been A Better Comedy Since “Girls Trip” Came Out In 2017?
Nope. I don’t think so! It’s been 4 years since the hilarious comedy film crushed the box office bringing in $115 million domestically and $140 million at the global box office. Lead by Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and comedic newcomer (at the time) Tiffany Haddish. Let me say, based on the amount of times of seen this movie it deserves a sequel.
The all-female black cast made history and celebrated the joys and struggles of sisterhood. If you need a reminder of how important good girlfriends are and you want to laugh nonstop, this is the movie you need to see.
What’s Coming Up?
Recently, Queen Latifah who plays Sasha was on Tamron Hall’s show and gave an update about whether there would be a sequel to the movie like we all hoped for. She said when they signed on to do the movie it was with the understanding there would in fact be a sequel.
Queen Latifah went on to say she just got word that a sequel is happening sooner than later. Latifah said, “I don’t know where I’m going to be next summer shooting this movie but it better be somewhere exotic.”
Nikki’s Take
I’m hoping in the sequel we see Sasha and Ryan’s (Regina Hall) career together, and Julian’s character played by Larenz Tate get married! Dina deserves a storyline…oh, and the last name (lol) and Lisa needs to find love or hook back up with that guy who gave her some good sex! Okaaaay, I think I just wrote the script, y’all…
“Girls Trip” was directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man, Roll Bounce, Space Jam, Night School) and written by Kenya Barris of “Black-ish” fame and Tracy Oliver. From a story by the pair who based the script off their own experiences with their female friends.
