Brandy Releases New Single ‘Baby Mama’ Featuring Chance The Rapper
As promised, on Friday (May 1), Brandy released her new single, “Baby Mama” featuring Chance The Rapper. “Every day I breathe is for my little mama,” Brandy wrote when she announced the release via Instagram, referring to her daughter Syrai Smith, who is also featured on the animated cover art with the singer and Chance.
“The inspiration for Baby Mama was, of course, my daughter and how she makes me a better person,” Brandy said of the Hit Boy-produced track. “I wanted to do a song about her and speak to all baby mama’s out there that may feel like they can’t make it or they can’t push through, you know, if you use your child as an inspiration you can do anything and I want to everybody to feel that.”

“I have to give Chance The Rapper a huge shout out, he spit a really really dope verse on it and I’m so pleased with it,” Brandy said of the Chicago native.
“My baby got them dreams you can touch/ and a voice from above She’s a pearl in the rough/ It takes a village to raise em’/ we don’t do it all by ourselves/I know my smile can be upstaging/’ On a stage I provide like a daddy And a mother/father I give my life put that on my life (I put that on everything),” Brandy sings on the track.
“You not the only one that can take out trash/ That can make the cash/ That can make her laugh/ You not the only one that can make the bread /That can make her drinks/ that can make her scream/Keep her vibrating when I make her back/ Gotta make it last,” Chance raps on the record. The video for “Baby Mama” is slated to be released on Monday (May 4).
