Regardless of belief, it is unquestionable that the presidential election this November will be among the most important and significant in US History. Today, the road towards that election truly begins in Michigan, with primary elections for both parties taking place.
Many people choose not to vote due to difficulty, forgetfulness, or reluctance to register to vote. But, if you aren’t registered yet and want to vote today, we have good news. Michigan allows for open voter registration on every day leading up to election day, as well as on election day itself.

Here is how you can register to vote TODAY:
If you’re not registered and want to vote on Tuesday, March 10, you must register in person at your local city or township clerk’s office. Some clerk’s offices have opened satellite offices for voter registration. You must show proof of where you live. Documents must have your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of any document. Acceptable documents include:
- Michigan driver’s license or State ID card
- Current utility bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck or government check
- Other government document

After registering, you can vote an absent voter ballot at the clerk’s office or you can vote at your polling place on Election Day (March 10).
Eligible citizens may become registered to vote in a variety of ways, at any time through Election Day. Individuals who register to vote within the 14-day period immediately preceding an election must appear in person at their city or township clerk’s office and provide proof of residency.
