A New Edition Music Fact!
When Maurice Starr took a plane ride, everything changed for New Edition. Starr, who had been in bands and recorded, produced and sang on music that hit the billboard charts, was now on the hunt for the next new thing in music.
In Starr’s hometown of Boston, a talent show was taking place where kids from all over the area were shooting for the grand prize and stardom.
New Edition didn’t win that night, but they did meet Maurice Starr, who would change their lives forever.
Starr gained the rights to the young teens and told them he would write songs and sign them to his label, while on a two hour flight he was humming some Jackson Five songs in his head and wrote three songs before the plane landed!
Candy Girl was one of them, and the rest is, well, what you already know.
