Detroit Historical Museum

Located at Detroit’s Cultural Center on Woodward Avenue, the Detroit Historical Museum is the city’s first historical museum. 5401 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48202 the Detroit Historical Museum has exhibitions in its 78,000-square-foot facility highlighting the history of southeastern Michigan, including the popular Streets of Old Detroit, which recreates Detroit street scenes from the 1840s, 1870s, and early 1900s. Detroit’s Motor City exhibition celebrates 100 years of automotive history. Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for seniors, students, active military and first responders (with valid ID); $6 for children and $35 for households up to six with the same address. National Museum Of The Tuskegee Airman ✈️

The museum preserves the history of the Tuskegee Airmen, including their oral and written records, and includes the largest collection of Airmen artifacts in the world. Through targeted youth programs, the museum is proud to serve as a springboard to inspire the next generation of aviators and aerospace enthusiasts.
The museum tells the story of the profound contributions of these men who signed up to fight for America during World War II, despite the racial segregation and debilitating limitations of a racially divided and unequal society. The Plowshares Theatre Company is an urban theater with a distinct Detroit flair. addition to promoting the African-American experience, Plowshares Theatre, has never forgotten its original mission: providing opportunities for local artists and creating creative work. Motown Historical Museum

The Motown Museum is temporarily closed for renovations. It is located at Hitsville USA, 2648 West Grand Boulevard in Detroit, Michigan the original home of Motown records from 1959 to 1972. Today, it is one of Detroit’s most popular tourist attractions. Its mission is to preserve the legacy of Motown Record Corporation. It also aims to educate and motivate people, especially youth, through exhibitions and programs that promote the values of vision, creativity and entrepreneurship. The museum exhibits trace the roots of Motown’s remarkable story and chronicle its impact on 20th century popular culture and musical styles.Check out there site to learn more about this historical building.
William V. Banks Broadcasting Museum
This museum was named after William V. Banks, the founder of WGPR-TV, this broadcast center and museum was the first television station owned and operated entirely of African Americans. Banks planned for his station to support and educate while also providing a space for black experience and perspective. The Detroit station offered a mix of local and community programs and news along with r&b music , syndicated shows, religious programs and children’s programs. During it’s 20 years, WGPR provided training and employment for many local residents. Detroit Institute Of Arts
This beautiful Museum represents some of the best art collections in the United States, the museum showcases everything from African masks to Monet’s and modern art . Don’t miss the center for African American art, a gallery in the DIA that showcases over 400 pieces, by African American artist . You don’t want to miss out visiting this gem right on the Woodward strip at 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, mi 48202 . they’re open Tuesday – Thursday from 9am-4pm , Friday from 9am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
