Kem is a well-known R&B singer and songwriter that was born in Nashville Tennessee. However, when he was young his family moved to Southfield Michigan. Detroit is the home of Motown music and plenty of Motown artists came from Detroit… Kem being one of them. As learned in an interview between Kem and KISS-FM’s Angie Starr, Detroit loves Kem and Kem loves Detroit.
According to TheHistoryMakers.org, Kem self-released an album named “Kemistry”, which was his first ever album. The album sold around 15,000 copies and its success peaked the interest of the Detroit local, Motown Records. Kem signed a five-record deal in November of 2001 with Motown Records where he ended up re-releasing his album “Kemistry” in 2003. This record went gold and reached the “Top 20 of the Top Hip-Hop/R&B Albums” chart. From that album, the song “Love Calls” ended up becoming a hit!
There is no denying that Kem has made waves in the R&B music industry and that he has been highly successful in his music career. Detroit is a huge fan of Kem and his music can be listened to basically everywhere. On Kem’s Spotify Profile you can see Kem’s top 10 songs showing how many times that song has been listened to.
