Happy Birthday L. Boogie! Lauryn Hill Turns 46
Although she just might be the only artist that can show up somewhere later than me or as we’ve witnessed in the past, L. Boogie might not show up at all… I simply love her for being unapologetically authentic, and all-around GOAT!!!!
Today, let’s send a big ole’ KISS to the soulful artist whose R&B sound and remarkable musical talents span many areas. From rapping to singing, acting, producing, and playing instruments, Lauryn’s nearly 30 years as an artist has made her a master at her craft. Not to mention, being the first woman to win five Grammy’s in one night for her album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill changed the whole game!
You might remember back in the early ’90s, she started out her career as an actress. After landing a recurring role in the television soap opera, As the World Turns, she then worked her way to a starring role in the 1993 film, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. Before long, though, Lauryn Hill decided to pursue music, and she and rapper Pras Michel formed a hip hop group, later known as the Fugees.
