Grey Ghost’s Beloved Cheeseburger Heads to Ferndale in New Fast-Casual Spot
A new fast-casual restaurant concept is coming to Oakland County in the summer of 2025.
Four Man Ladder Hospitality Group is planning a summer opening for its dining establishment, which will feature its popular Grey Ghost cheeseburger. This signature burger features a double-patty cheeseburger on a sesame seed-covered bun.
Known for its well-recognized restaurants such as Second Best and Basan, Four Man Ladder Hospitality Group will occupy a 1,000-square-foot space at 22305 Woodward Ave. in Ferndale. Construction is set to begin this month.
The menu will focus on scratch-made dishes, including a version of its popular Grey Ghost cheeseburger served with an optional egg, a chicken sandwich, and sides.
“Over the past nine years, our beloved Grey Ghost burger has developed a loyal following,” chef and co-owner John Vermiglio said in a press release, “Its simple preparation and exceptional ingredients resonate with our guests, and we’re excited to translate that same spirit into a quick-service format. Alongside this fan favorite, we’ll introduce fresh new menu items, all crafted with the same commitment to quality.”
According to the release, Four Man Ladder Hospitality Group will mainly offer takeout, local delivery, and catering services at its Ferndale location that will be open daily.
Grey Ghost is the group’s first restaurant venture, which opened in 2016 in the Brush Park neighborhood. In 2018, the group opened Second Best, a neighborhood pub serving a full beer and cocktail menu along with bits and bites at 42 E. Watson St. in Detroit. Basan operates at 2703 Park Ave., steps away from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Chefs Joe Giacomino and John Vermiglio co-lead Four Man Ladder Hospitality, along with business partners Will Lee and Michael Gray.
