Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz: Here’s Why They Called Off Their Engagement
Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz’s split was a surprise since hours before the news broke out, Tatum still posted about their upcoming movie. According to People, the couple had been “uncomfortable with the attention” and wanted to be more “discreet.” As a result, the public wasn’t exactly privy to what was happening between the two and that something was amiss in the relationship.
Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz: Relationship Timeline
January 2021: Tatum and Kravitz met on the set of Kravitz’s directorial film Blink Twice, initially titled Pussy Island. In an interview with Deadline, Kravitz mentioned that she had Tatum in mind when writing the role of Slater King, a mogul and philanthropist.
September 2021: Although the couple has been seen together biking around NYC, and drinking coffee, there has been official confirmation about the relationship. However, even after appearing on the red carpet separately, the two left the 2021 Met Gala together, a move that, in Hollywood, pretty much says it all.
October 2023: The couple got engaged but kept details about the engagement under wraps. However, it seems the proposal seemed to happen before the two attended a Halloween party at Chateau Marmont since Kravitz was photographed already wearing what seemed to be an engagement ring.
October 2024: According to Yahoo! Entertainment, Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz were together in New York City to support Blink Twice costar Levon Hawke’s play Picture Perfect. However, in the following weeks, Kravitz was spotted without her engagement ring and soon after, news that the couple broke up and called off their engagement began circulating online.
What Happened?
Multiple sources have confirmed to People that the couple broke off their engagement after being engaged for one year and being together for two years. The reason is that “they haven’t been on the same page and grew apart.” A source also told Us Weekly that “Kravitz and Tatum’s laid-back mindset ended up putting ‘a lot of pressure on them,’ which made them ‘rethink’ things.” The same source said Tatum is a “family man” and very involved with her daughter, while Kravitz’s priority is her career.
What’s Next for Them?
Talk about awkward timing… The two are reportedly set to appear in Alpha Gang, an comedy film by Cate Blanchett. Still, both are professionals, and as Kravitz told E! News, “Making art is our love language. We hope to continue doing it,” and that the split was amicable.
Plus, they’re not the only exes in Hollywood who keep working together. According to W Magazine, production on the film isn’t set to begin until mid to late 2025, so the ex-couple will have some time to adjust and settle any unresolved issues (if there are any) before filming begins.
