Moments on Netflix: The Easiest Way to Share Clips on Social Media
Good news from the streaming giant, Netflix! No, they haven’t brought back password sharing, but they’re offering the next best thing (I guess). This coming Monday, Netflix has added another feature for its iOs users that will make it easier to share memorable clips from movies and TV shows to social media.
With this feature, iPhone users can select and share clips directly, creating a simple way to encourage their friends and followers to watch a show or a movie that got them hooked. Android users, however, will need to wait a little longer, as Netflix hasn’t yet announced a release date for the feature on Android devices.
“Moments” on Netflix
The new feature is called “Moments,” and it will allow users to share TV and movie clips on social media platforms. However, these platforms only include Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Snapchat, according to Collider.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Moments on Netflix is not only for social media sharing. This feature also makes it easier for users to save their favorite “moments” from any movie or TV show they’re watching. With just a tap on the “moments” button at the bottom of the screen, the current scene is instantly saved to their Netflix tab for easy rewatching later.
So, if you want to rewatch that scene from Squid Game 1 (before the second season drops) where they play the game Tug of War and Oh Il-Nam enumerated the strategy that saved their lives even if winning looked impossible, you won’t have to drag and re-drag the cursor to find that scene.
Why Netflix Sharing Excludes TikTok
The feature works by letting users share a clip directly to another platform. When their followers click on the clip, it opens the show or movie in the Netflix app on their device. It’s not downloading a clip and then reposting it. This setup likely explains why TikTok is not included in the list of social media sites Netflix users can share, as it helps avoid piracy concerns.
“It’s So Good”
According to Deadline, the launch of Moments on Netflix coincides with the streaming service’s new campaign “It’s So Good.” The campaign features “some of the most beloved and memorable moments that have captivated fans worldwide — including Cardi B, Simone Biles, and Giancarlo Esposito.”
Per Netflix, “Moments will hopefully expand in the future, offering even more ways for members to use and enjoy the feature.”
