The travel and lifestyle experts at USA Today are up on all the best places to eat when you travel, and they’ve put together a tally of the best restaurants located inside hotels in the U.S. The top 10 roster, which is part of USA Today’s 10 Best, was selected by an expert panel and voted on by their readers. “Some of the leading restaurants in the United States, led by talented and often award-winning chefs, can be found in hotels and resorts,” they note. “And the cream of the crop, like these 10 hotel restaurants selected by an expert panel and voted by readers as the best in the country, go the extra mile with superior service and one-of-a-kind touches.”
The No. 1 restaurant located in a hotel, according to USA Today, is Chez Philippe at The Peabody Memphis. They love this spot for its “French twist” and all of the delicious French dishes and wine. “For fine dining with a French twist, look no further than Chez Philippe at the historic Peabody Memphis,” they write. They add that executive chef Andreas Kisler “is at the helm of this top dining destination offering a four-course prix fixe menu and a seven-course tasting menu, which you can enhance with a six-course wine pairing.”
So, which hotel in Michigan made the cut as one of the best hotel restaurants? Coming in at No. 9 is MDRD at Amway Grand Plaza at 187 Monroe Avenue NW 27th Floor in Grand Rapids. They even say you might feel like you’re in Spain at this spot. “MDRD at Amway Grand Plaza is a vibrant Spanish-inspired restaurant that combines traditional flavors with a modern twist,” they write, with “tantalizing tapas to flavorful entrees, every dish is expertly crafted and beautifully presented.” USA Today adds that the restaurant’s “stylish decor, panoramic views, and lively, fun atmosphere create a great dining experience for guests seeking a true taste of the culinary delights of Spain.” That sounds delicious and like a one-of-a-kind experience.
