Everything You Need to Know About Cedar Point’s HalloWeekends
It’s officially the spooky season, and that means Cedar Point is back with its popular HalloWeekends. The event is back for a 27th year, and it runs select days and nights, starting Thursday (Sept. 12) and running all the way through Nov. 2. This is one of my friends’ favorite things to do this time of year. Taking a road trip to Cedar Point during HalloWeekends is so much fun. If you don’t want to get scared, there are family-friendly activities, too, such as corn and hay mazes, trikes for kids, pumpkin decorating and games and more. For adults, you’ll find nighttime haunted mazes, “scare zones” and other entertainment. If you’re going this year, note that you’ll find some new things at HalloWeekends.
New Attractions at HalloWeekends and More
New This Year: Midnight’s Curse
“Midnight’s Curse” is new this year at the HalloWeekends Main Stage. The show “takes guests into their darkest nightmares,” according to the park. “Through four distinct acts and a haunting soundtrack, host Mr. Midnight navigates their deepest fears by conjuring up jaw-dropping acrobatic performances that include fire manipulation, high-flying aerialists, treacherous balancing and more.” This show isn’t recommended for children. That means I can’t watch it.
Mr. Midnight’s Lantern Unlocks ‘Spooky Features’
Cedar Point invites guests to “unlock spooky features throughout the park with Mr. Midnight’s interactive lantern.” The lantern, they say, is “activated by invisible spirits” and “will reveal hidden secrets and behave in mysterious ways as it reacts inside haunted mazes, during live performances and at select locations in the park.”
Trick-or-Treat Throwbacks for the Kids
Trick-or-Treating stations are going to be retro this year, which is new for the park. Expect cool, yesterday-themed stops, such as Maniacal Mechanical Screamworks, Pharaoh’s Secret, Fear Faire, Zombie High School, Happy Jack’s Toy Factory and Toxic Tunnel of Terror.
Food at HalloWeekends
Expect delicious, scary food at HalloWeekends, including “Glazed Gargoyle Chicken Wings tossed with a candy gloss shell, Apple Cider Donut Bundt Cake, Butternut Squash and Prosciutto Pizza, Deep-Fried Cheesecake, Hellfire Fresh-Cut Fries, the Mummy Roll (dark chocolate cake with cookies and cream whipped filling)” and more, according to officials.
Lots of Entertainment
You’ll find lots of entertainment, as well as some returning favorites such as “Fangs After Dusk,” “Butchers of Rock,” “The Shrieks,” “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown” and “Wake The Dead.” Also expect some new shows.
