It’s been rumored for some time, but it’s now official: WWE SummerSlam Detroit is happening!
While WrestleMania is WWE’s biggest show of the year, because of the spectacle, most Wrestling fans consider SummerSlam the show for them. The WWE’s Biggest Party of the summer, is coming to Detroit’s Ford Field on Saturday night August 5th, which is going to be a busy day in downtown Detroit read more on that on Shannon’s Scoop. WWE’s second or third biggest show of the year (depending on who you ask) will be in the D.
Most wrestling fans start booking their card for “the biggest party of the summer” just after WrestleMania. I am going to give you the six matches that MUST happen at Ford Field this August!
The result of the main event of WrestleMania last month in Los Angeles, caught a lot of wrestling fans off guard. WWE can right the wrong in Detroit! The WWE Draft that followed Mania, produced some interesting results. Bianca Belair (RAW Women’s Champion) and Rhea Ripley (SmackDown Women’s Champion) swapping shows and taking their titles with them.
With Triple H coming up on one year taking over running WWE creative, the biggest money match in the Women’s Division, is Rhea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair. That match will close out WrestleMania 40 in 2023 in Philadelphia, in my opinion. So we’ll continue this awkward wrong colored belt on each show stuff until then.
The last time SummerSlam was in Detroit, was in 1992. Lex Luger won his WWE Championship Match against Yokozuna via countout and celebrated like he became champion. 30 years later, that wrong can be righted, by having Cody Rhodes avenge his WrestleMania 39 loss, by winning the WWE Championship.
These are six matches that MUST happen at WWE SummerSlam Detroit.
