Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls of all ages, one of the best times in sports has arrived. March Madness officially begins March 15 at approximately 6:40 beginning with  Texas A&M CC (Corpus Christi) taking on Texas Southern as well as Bryant taking on Wright State in the ‘First Four’ portion of the tournament. this will be the first time fans will be allowed in the areas for the tournament games since 2020, when it was cancelled due to COVID-19. Following Sunday’s Big Ten championship game in Indianapolis, the 2022 bracket was announced.

Of the many college basketball programs in Michigan, only Michigan State and U of M were in the running for an invite for the big dance. Entering in the tournament as a No. 11 seed, the Wolverines are set to open their tournament campaign on Thursday, March 17, vs Colorado State at around 9:40 p.m. Michigan finished 17-14 overall and 11-9 in the Big Ten. If they beat Colorado State, Michigan would play the winner of Tennessee and Longwood.  As for Michigan St, the seventh-ranked Spartans will take on the tenth-ranked Davidson Wildcats on Friday, March 18 at around 12:15 p.m. The Spartans ended their season with 22-12 record, including a 11-9 conference record. For coach Tom Izzo, this will be his 24th straight tournament appearance.

Both Michigan and Michigan St aren’t favored to win the tournament as they both have had up and down seasons this year with a barrage of inconsistency problems for both teams, but as we all know the NCAA tournament is almost like a new season so anything is possible and anything can happen during March Madness.
