Rustin and The Color Purple take the lead in nominations for film. In television, Ayo Edebiri received two nominations for The Bear and her guest role on Abbott Elementary.
In the music categories, Victoria Monet leads with six nominations, and Usher has five nominations.
"The NAACP Image Awards stand as a tribute to their creativity, talent, and dedication to authentic storytelling and are a testament to the richness and diversity of our community," NAACP President and CEO, said in a statement.
New Edition has been inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame, and Usher will be honored with the President's Award. Frankie Beverly will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
“It is our distinct honor to celebrate New Edition and Frankie Beverly — two musical icons that have been instrumental in shaping our cultural landscape with their remarkable talent and enduring influence,” NAACP president and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “We recognize the power of their artistry in showcasing the enduring power of Black excellence in the arts.”
Usher At The NAACP Awards
Usher was awarded the President's Award at this year's NAACP Awards. The singer spoke about how New Edition paved the way and how his upbringing with his single mother made him who he is as an artist today. Previous musicians who have won the award are Ella Fitzgerald, who was the first person to ever win the award in 1987, Lauryn Hill (1999), John Legend (2016), Jay-Z (2019) and Rihanna (2020).
Usher is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year alongside Colman Domingo, Fantasia Barrino, Halle Bailey, and Keke Palmer.

7. KJ Smith

KJ Smith looked like a trophy herself with her silver gown. Smith's dress had a halter-style top and corset that flowed into a mermaid design. To compliment the look, the actress wore her hair in long black loose waves.
6. Quinta Brunson

Quinta Brunson looked stunning tonight in her white gown. For her hair, she kept it short and wore it in a loose wave and side part. Brunson won tonight already for grabbing Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary. She joked during her speech that she lost her earrings but even without it she still pulled off this look,
5. Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson gave off a similar style to her character Shug Avery in 'The Color Purple' with her look tonight. The actress wore a lime green gown with a flower detail at the top. For her hair, she took inspiration from 1920s Hollywood with finger waves. Henson took home Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Shug Avery in 'The Color Purple.'
4. Pinky Cole

Pinky Cole looked marvelous in her bright red dress for the night. Her tight red dress also had a deep V-cut. But what stole the show was the sleeves, which were 3D-printed and covered her head as well. She is mostly known as the owner and operator of S----- Vegan.
3. Keke Palmer

Menswear on women aren't new but Keke Palmer's twist was a perfect look for the night. She wore a white and black tuxedo which also included a black bow tie. She also accessorized with a red rose and cane. She is up for Entertainer of the Year.
2. Usher

Usher knows how to put on a show on and off the stage. The singer wore an-all black suit that featured a few buttons missing up top. Let's just say, we aren't complaining. Usher was honored with the President's Award tonight.
1. Halle Bailey

Halle Bailey gets the top prize for her gorgeous green dress on the red carpet tonight. The emerald green dress has rose-inspired details at the top. The dress flows into a beautiful mermaid design. Bailey is up for Entertainer of the Year tonight.
