Delta Air Lines launched daily flights from Detroit to Rome during March and November. The carrier also upgraded its Amsterdam service. These shifts give travelers fresh choices when fewer people fly.

A339 aircraft will now operate all Detroit-to-Amsterdam flights. This switch brings "more consistency to the premium onboard experience," the airline said in a release, as shared by Detroit Free Press.

"The expanded schedule provides Detroit customers with more opportunities to travel to Europe during the off-peak season," the company said in the release.

Rome service runs daily for those two months. Detroit Metropolitan Airport acts as a major hub for transatlantic operations.

Delta Air Lines operates from Atlanta. Up to 4,000 flights take off each day. The carrier connects over 1,000 destinations around the world, according to its website.

Detroit Metropolitan Airport sits in Romulus, just outside the city. Two terminals—McNamara and Evans—handle 31 million passengers each year, the airport's website says. More than 800 flights arrive and depart daily, linking three continents.

Airlines want to fill seats during slower booking windows. March and November see fewer tourists than summer does.

Swapping in A339 aircraft for Amsterdam routes changes how Delta uses its planes on transatlantic trips from Michigan. Passengers get the same experience on every flight to the Netherlands now.

Detroit Metro has become a key stop for Midwest and eastern U.S. travelers heading to Europe. Its location cuts flight time to many European cities compared to airports on the coasts.

Rome flights begin in March 2027 and continue through November 2027. Amsterdam aircraft changes start now for existing flights.
