Bode's Corned Beef House swung open its doors Monday at the Main Street address in Plymouth. New proprietors purchased both the building and the business itself.

The eatery had shuttered in December 2025 when the prior owner couldn't manage steeper rent.

An announcement hit the restaurant's Facebook page Feb. 26. Renovations wrapped up. Deep cleaning finished. Customers could come back.

"We worked hard to complete all the updates as quickly as possible because we know how important this place is to so many of you. We can't wait to welcome everyone back," the owners said in the Facebook post.

David Mueller, who ran the spot before, shut down when a different company acquired the building and increased what he owed each month. "They wanted more than I could afford," Mueller told Hometown Life. "Two weeks later, they gave me an eviction notice. I was shocked. Stunned. I just had a good cry last night. It's been pretty crazy."

This establishment has fed Plymouth for over sixty years. Corned beef sandwiches made it famous. So did Friday fish fry suppers.

The purchasers now control all brand rights and plan to keep what made Bode's special. "We have put great care and effort into preserving the character, culture, and legacy of Bode's while improving the space so it can continue serving the community for years to come," the new owners said.

Classic American diner dishes will anchor the menu, but expect some fresh twists. A Facebook message stated the property needed work, so they overhauled everything.

In a Feb. 4 Facebook post, the new proprietors spoke directly to Plymouth. "Bode's Corned Beef House is not going anywhere," the post read. "We will remain Bode's, and we are committed to offering what we believe will be the best corned beef sandwich in Michigan."

Staff positions are open for those interested. Doors stay open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Sunday hours run 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

You'll find it at 280 N. Main St. in Plymouth, just a few miles from downtown.
