Parks Old Style Bar-B-Q shuts its doors after Sunday, Feb. 8. That ends a 63-year stretch in Detroit. The carryout spot on Beaubien put up a sign on the front door to break the news.

"We will be permanently closed after Sunday, Feb. 8," reads the sign, as shared by Detroit News. "Thanks for 63 years of support!!"

Word got out Thursday. Lines snaked through the location at 7444 Beaubien as people rushed in. The Michigan Chronicle broke the story first.

Edward and Verna Parks started it back in 1964. Edward used to carry mail for a living, but he also played jazz and led bands, his 1999 obituary says, as referenced by Detroit News. Their son took the reins when they stepped back. Then, grandkids kept things going.

Ribs and chicken made up the heart of what they served. You could also grab wings and fried bits like jalapeno poppers, stuffed mushrooms, greens, baked beans, and green beans.

The place only did takeout. Thursday, you had to walk in if you wanted food. Grubhub stopped working, and nobody picked up the phone.
