Little Tree Sushi Bar closed its doors for good after dishing out pan-Asian meals in Detroit for three decades. Dec. 27, 2025 marked the final day.

"On behalf of the owners, management, sushi chefs, and staff, we would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all of your patronage over the years," reads a statement posted to the website and the front door according to The Detroit News. "We will miss you."

The restaurant first opened on Main Street in downtown Royal Oak, just south of 11 Mile. Diners came for sushi, but also Japanese noodles, Thai dishes, and Filipino plates.

Baked two-flavor rolls brought people in. So did the lava rolls. These signature maki became customer favorites over time, and the menu had vegan and gluten-free choices too.

Little Tree left Royal Oak in 2022 and reopened at 1890 S. Rochester Road in a Rochester Hills strip mall. It had the same menu, a bigger dining area, and free parking.

The old Royal Oak address at 107 S Main sits empty now. Rochester Hills served its last plates right before New Year's.

This closure ends a stretch that fed multiple generations across metro Detroit. The restaurant built fans by mixing Asian cooking styles under one roof, creating something different for the area.

The statement doesn't say why it closed. But the owners and their team expressed gratitude for everyone who came through those doors during the decades they operated.
